Cake Bake & Roll

August 22, 2011

This cute little bistro, Cake Bake & Roll, in Long Branch, NJ, was the perfect stop for breakfast after a beach weekend with girl friends. Its Euro-style with a colorful 50’s disco flair is just as fun as the desserts themselves. And if it’s too early in the day for sweets, the bagels and breakfast sandwiches are a good alternate.

Breakfast at Belle’s

August 1, 2011

Visiting a friend in Newport for the weekend, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a mid-summer Sunday morning than breakfast at Belle’s in the shipyard. Waking up with coffee, breakfast sandwiches and watermelon, we sat back in lounge chairs enjoying the beautiful views.

Happy Fourth of July!

July 4, 2011

I could not think of a better way to celebrate the American holiday weekend than an outdoor breakfast at East Rosebud Lake in the middle of Montana’s wilderness. An hour of dirt roads finally opened up to a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and we popped up the grill for pancakes with berries, bacon and coffee. I couldn’t resist including some of my other Fourth of July shots from this weekend. Quite possibly one of the most patriotic small towns I’ve been too, these folk in Red Lodge know how to celebrate America with their famous 3 day rodeo and parade. Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday!

Public in Nolita

May 23, 2011

Saturday afternoon a couple friends and I headed to brunch at Public to share Friday night stories at the industrial chic hang out in downtown’s Nolita neighborhood and give us some fuel before hitting up the Brooklyn Flea. The service was probably the best I’ve had in a long time, and the eclectic menu was fun to browse, although I stuck with my usual eggs and toast. I’ll have to make a note to stop back through when I’m feeling more experimental.

A Camper’s Breakfast

It’s amazing what you can do with no kitchen. Take this array of bagels and breakfast sandwiches cooked up while camping at Coachella as the perfect example.

Coachella Farmers Market

April 21, 2011

After falling in love with Santa Monica’s Farmers Market fruit last fall, I was beyond thrilled to experience more from the west coast. Spending a majority of Coachella Music Festival on the grounds, the onsite resources such as the Farmers Market that brought in vendors from neighboring areas of Palm Desert, Palm Springs and La Quinta became most valuable. Here’s what I feasted on that got me through the days…

Hello, Spring

April 6, 2011

Inspired by the weekend sunshine, I took a trip to Zabars, my local gourmet food store, and stocked up on all sorts of fresh and colorful fruit to make a breakfast bruschetta for friends to enjoy. Slicing a loaf of whole grain bread from the farmer’s market, I spread mascarpone cheese and Zabar’s cranberry spread, topping off with sliced papayas and mangos. On the side, a beets and bean salad.

Eggs & Toast

March 13, 2011

For me, nothing quite beats spending a morning in the city eating eggs and toast in the comfort of a bright and sunny apartment. My friends invited me over to Roosevelt Island while they used some fresh farmer’s market ingredients to cook up breakfast.
